Potty Training!

Lizzy likes to be naked. Yes, it's true. She'd rather be in her birthday suit than anything else. After baths at night, we let her "be herself" for a while and it makes her so happy. Over the past few weeks I had been letting her go longer and longer just to see if she had any accidents. Nope. So a couple of weeks ago I bought a little potty seat and she actually went potty on it a couple of times! I knew she was very young so I didn't push it at all. She was interested in going potty, but wasn't telling me when she needed to go.

At Christmastime, she started asking to go potty ("paw-ie"), so I took her when she asked. Sometimes she would go and sometimes she wouldn't. Again, I didn't push it. I could tell she was getting close to being ready, but with the holidays coming and all of the travel that involves, I wasn't willing to tackle it then.

So... on Christmas day when we were at Jon's grandma and grandpa's house, she announced in a crowded room that she needed to go. "I poop," she said. Yes, my shy little girl was not so shy to make that announcement in front of everyone. So, I took her to the bathroom and she pooped on the toilet! Oh my!! When we got back home the day after Christmas, we decided to potty train. I use that term loosely because she totally trained herself. We had VERY few accidents and she was so happy to go in the potty. No issues. I was so surprised and SO proud of her. I think her desire to be clean was the motivation for potty training. So, at 22 months, Lizzy was potty trained.

This makes me laugh out loud. This is probably going to be her reaction when she's older and reads this post and all the personal info in it. Haha!

Washing hands after going potty is probably the best part, according to her.

A celebratory horsy ride after a successful potty.
