A Visit to the ER

Poor little girl. She woke up this morning and fell back asleep within 10 minutes. She fell asleep in my arms, too, which hardly ever happens any more. All she wanted to do all day was lay in bed. She watched tv off and on, but mostly just laid there. Poor little girl.

I took her temperature off and on throughout the day, but it never was over 101. So, I gave her Tylenol and plenty of water, thinking it was a little bug she'd get over soon enough. When she woke up at about 4:30 from her last nap, she was looking pretty darn sick and she was on fire! Her forehead temperature was still only 101. Her rectal temp was 103.6. Oh my! I called the doctor right away and he told us to go to the ER. Because of Lizzy's VUR, we take high temperatures pretty seriously because her kidneys can get infected quickly.

They ran all of their tests in the ER, but by the time they were done with the tests, she was looking and feeling much better. Isn't that just the way it goes? They didn't find any sign of infection, thank goodness. Lizzy even did so well going potty in the ER. What a good little girl. They sent us on our way and her temp was gone the next day. Crazy. We're just glad she's feeling better!
