Henry Right Now

Henry is not a good sleeper. I knew it from our first night in the hospital. He couldn't lie flat on his back and has never slept on his back. Ever. He slept in a cradle until I couldn't fit his big 6-month-old body in it any more. He slept like a champ in that thing; all night long from 12 weeks on.

When we moved him to his crib - at six months - he slept through the night fine because the second we laid him down, he flipped to his tummy.

Fast forward about a month and he started waking up multiple times during the night wanting to be held. He was sick off and on for a couple months, so I wasn't comfortable to let him cry it out. Until one night when I was getting up for the third time. I let him cry and he figured it out for a while again. Then about a week ago he got sick again and couldn't breathe laying down. So back to holding him at night we went. Last night he slept like a champ from 8:30 to 7:30 and it was heaven.

He doesn't sleep at daycare either. He's there from 9 am to 3 pm and maybe takes two 25 minute naps. Little stinker. I'm hoping when he starts walking he will be so exhausted that he will nap better. (That's not far away- he's cruising ALL over the place.) At home he takes a 40-minute nap in the morning and a 2-hour nap in the afternoon, though he gets held if he wakes up too soon.

We call him Buddy, Dude, H-Man, and Curly. Man alive, he's got a curly mop right now. I hope he keeps them. They're adorable.

Jon calls him our little garbage disposal. He has yet to try a food he doesn't like. His favorites are Cheerios, bananas, grapes, Gerber Little Crunchies (like Cheetos), and all kinds of crackers.

He loves the little cancer awareness bracelets, playing by his workbench, his music table, and chasing after Lucy.

He is still just as sweet as pie and is happy almost all of the time. He always has a smile for everyone, but his favorites are Lizzy, Grandma Janice, daddy, and mommy. Few things make him laugh as much as his sister, especially when she plays peek-a-boo on the side of his highchair.

He chatters constantly, with a "dada" and "mama" mixed in every now and then. He loves to clap and waves bye-bye to everyone with a huge smile stretched across his adorable face.

Everywhere we go people comment on how stinking cute he is. What a blessing this sweet boy is. He is very loved.
