All of a sudden my baby girl isn't a baby any more. I know she's 16 months and I'm probably the last to know, but she's really not a baby any more. She's a big girl. She no longer takes a bottle but drinks from a sippy cup and feeds herself. She no longer needs me to rock her to sleep but prefers to read books and rock for a bit before getting comfortable on her own in her crib. She no longer needs help getting her toys or finding things to do but gets what she wants and knows what she wants and gets ideas all on her own. And, she doesn't look like a baby any more. Why is the mom always the last to know about these things?
At 16 months, Lizzy's most favorite things to do are: read books (over and over while she points to all the animals and items she knows), be outside (swinging, playing in the sand, or drawing with chalk), carry her blanky everywhere (or multiple blankies if she can find them), pick on Lucy (which Lucy tolerates because Lizzy feeds her good food), give treats to Lucy, give daddy big hugs when he gets home, sit on the front steps (she backs up and puts her little bottom down), go for walks in the stroller, and eat veggies.
She is doing much better at eating these days. Her favorite foods (in order of preference) are corn, peas, green beans (I know, I'm so lucky), Oreo cookies (not so lucky on this one), shaved turkey, cheese, crackers, mandarin oranges, and peaches. She doesn't eat a lot, but we're so happy she loves her veggies.
The other big development in the life of Lizzy lately is she's TALKING! She has about ten words, all variations of the correct pronunciation, but it's so cute. I can remember walking the house, bouncing and singing to Lizzy as she cried and I tried to figure out what was wrong - longing for the day she could tell me what she wanted or what was wrong. It is so fun to have two-way communication. And her little voice is so darn sweet. Her words include please ("ees" as she rubs her tummy, signing please), more ("mow" as she signs it), mom (clear as day :), dada, shoes ("soos"), this ("dis"), yes, hot, and papa.
I know I mention this a lot, but she is so much fun right now!
Zonked!
Diligently brushing her teeth
Checking out the air vent while it's blowing her hair
Snuggles for daddy. This momma's girl is starting to turn into a daddy's girl.
Aren't they sweet?
Having fun
What a stinker
Having a little snack while Lucy waits for her turn
One of her 4th of July outfits and a silly face
She LOVES to color and she's so good at holding a crayon
Sweetie!
First bandaid. She pulled the vacuum over her foot and cut it. She was so interested.
