Preschool

There are times when you look at your children and say, "Wow. I can't believe we're here already." The first day of preschool for Lizzy was certainly one of those days. But she was ready. So ready. She is eager to learn, and in need of more structure to her week and her days. We talked about preschool a lot before her first day that when it finally arrived, she was purely excited. A far cry from the stage-three clinger toddler days, she went right to circle time after a quick hug. No tears from anyone. Fly, baby, fly.

She chose her outfit completely by herself. She always has ideas of what she wants to wear and although sometimes I'd rather she opt for what I have in mind, I love her creativity and decisiveness. She told Henry all about how she was going to preschool on the drive to school. She got a little upset that all he wanted to talk about was "choo choos" but she told him with such excitement I thought my heart might burst.

When I took her to her room, she found her picture, hung her backpack and raincoat on her hook (an unusually cool and rainy August day) and then waited patiently in line with me. As soon as the teacher was ready, she got her name tag from Mrs. Katt, went in to wash her hands, gave me a quick hug, and sat down to get ready for circle time with her friends. Such a big girl.

When I picked her up at the end of the day, she was playing in the sandbox in the NEC. She was so excited to see me and tell me all about her day. Her favorite part was the big slides, but she also told me all about playing in the pink kitchen, singing songs, playing with Play-Doh, and that she was a "dinner winner". Way to go, Lizzy!! We are sooooo proud of you. It's going to be a fantastic year!
